" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it gives me the platform to turn passion into impact. I do this work because I believe every child and every woman deserves to feel safe, heard, and empowered, and that real change begins when we choose to lead with purpose. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Equal Access Initiative
Equal Access Initiative is a social impact project focused on promoting legal and civic awareness among women in Kenya. The project was inspired by the lived experiences of women, including my mother, who face significant legal and social challenges during divorce or family disputes due to limited knowledge of their rights.
Many women are unaware of the protections provided to them under the Constitution of Kenya, the Marriage Act, the Matrimonial Property Act, and other laws relating to domestic violence, custody, and inheritance. This lack of legal literacy leaves them vulnerable to injustice, exploitation, and inequality.
