University of Nairobi Parklands Campus | Nairobi, Kenya | Advancing SDG 5, SDG 4 & UNAI 1

" I am excited to join the Millennium Fellowship because it offers me a unique opportunity to advance SDG 4 by transforming my passion for education into tangible impact. Having witnessed the barriers that limit access to learning, I am eager to contribute to innovative solutions that make quality education a reality for all. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Empower Her
My project’s main purpose is to empower and support girls in school while ensuring they have access to adequate learning resources, from textbooks to out-of-class essentials such as sanitary towels. I aim to collaborate with organisations whose visions align with community development, as well as work with well-wishers who are willing to contribute donations such as stationery, uniforms, and sanitary towels. Part of my plan is to organise events such as book drives, where community members can donate books and volunteers can help facilitate the initiatives. A core focus of my project is also to work closely with women leaders as role models and partners in empowerment. Together, we will organise seminars and mentorship sessions to educate girls, provide safe spaces where they feel supported, and inspire them to pursue their dreams confidently. I also aspire to encourage young people who share a passion for promoting quality education, creating a network of change makers dedicated to lasting impact.
In the stipulated time frame, I aim to collect at least 200 learning materials and 300 sanitary towels through community drives and partnerships, organise at least two seminars with women leaders to mentor and empower at least 50 girls, and set up a safe discussion group for 30 girls. I also plan to host a book drive engaging at least 30 community members, recruit 10 volunteers, and hold one community sensitisation session on the importance of quality education.
