Millennium Fellowship Project: Pamoja for Planet
Pamoja for Planet is a youth-driven initiative focused on addressing the urgent challenges of climate change through community awareness, education, and action. Our project aims to empower individuals — especially young people — to understand that climate change is not a distant issue, but one that begins with our everyday choices and actions.
We work to create a platform where communities can learn, engage, and collaborate in protecting the environment. Through outreach programs, educational campaigns, and tree-planting activities, we seek to inspire responsibility toward sustainable living and environmental conservation.
At its core, Pamoja for Planet believes in the power of collective effort — that when people come together (“pamoja”), meaningful change for the planet is possible.
About the Millennium Fellow
Zeemelah Okok is a young, detail oriented and ambitious undergraduate student at the University of Nairobi. She was born in Nairobi, resides in Kitengela (Kajiado County) and has recently completed her degree in law in the University of Nairobi. My interest in quality education and climate action grew from realizing their complementarity- quality education empowers people to tackle climate change, while climate action sustains learning environments. I aim to champion education that embeds environmental awareness, using research, advocacy and community initiatives to build a future where knowledge fuels both personal growth and climate resilience
