" I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow because there’s nothing more energizing than being surrounded by people who care as deeply about their work as you do. That kind of passion sparks ideas you can’t create alone, and it’s what inspires the way I approach my own work. Living with food allergies myself, I saw early on how often hunger solutions stop at simply providing food, without asking if that food is safe for everyone. That’s why I focus on food insecurity through the lens of allergies: to make sure every person not only gets a meal, but a meal they can eat with confidence and joy. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: SAFE (Supplying Allergy Food and Education)

SAFE (Supplying Allergy Food and Education) is an organization dedicated to supporting individuals who have food allergies and face food insecurity, helping them live healthier and safer lives by providing allergy-safe food and food allergy-related education. The target audience includes people with food allergies who are also food insecure. During the project, five new individuals were successfully onboarded into SAFE. This involved a careful and time-intensive process of identifying trustworthy team members and providing thorough training so they could take on responsibilities effectively. This expansion strengthened the organization’s capacity to serve the community and advance its mission of promoting food safety and awareness for vulnerable populations.
