" I am thrilled to be a Millennium Fellow as this means transforming my commitment to education, social justice and healthcare into tangible initiatives. I'm motivated by seeing communities thrive when given the tools and opportunities to succeed. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Cleanathon Initiative at Ela Beach
This project focused on a Cleanthon initiative held at Ela Beach, a popular sunny beach in Port Moresby. The main goal was to promote Sustainable Development Goal 14 (Life Below Water) by raising awareness about marine conservation and protecting marine life. The Cleanthon was organized and led by four MCN Fellows from the UPNG 2025 Cohort. Through this initiative, participants actively collected waste, learned about the impacts of pollution on marine ecosystems, and engaged the community in environmental stewardship. The project combined practical action with advocacy to encourage long-term care for the ocean and coastal environments.
