" Advocacy through writing drives my work, fueled by a belief that words can inspire action and transform communities. Being a Millennium Fellow excites me because it offers a platform to refine my skills, collaborate with passionate peers, and align my efforts with the UNAI principles and SDGs. I look forward to strengthening my capacity to make literacy and education more accessible, amplifying the voices of young people, and turning ideas into tangible solutions that address pressing social challenges. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Write to Lead

Write to Lead was born from my own experience as a student in Ghana’s education system. I realized that we were taught to write for exams, not for expression. Every essay had to fit a formula, leaving little room for creativity or personal thought. Over time, many students began to see writing as stressful, something to survive, not enjoy. Through Write to Lead, I visit basic and secondary schools in the Eastern Region of Ghana and run writing clinics that help students rediscover the power of words: to express, to influence, and to lead. We explore persuasive writing, speech development, and creative storytelling, showing them how writing can shape conversations and inspire change. The initiative advances SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by empowering young voices to think critically, write boldly, and lead confidently through their ideas.
