University of Rwanda Huye | Butare, Rwanda | Advancing SDG 1, SDG 3 & UNAI 3

" "I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it gives me the opportunity to transform my vision for community development into meaningful, sustainable action. Growing up in a rural village taught me the value of resilience, unity, and service. This fellowship allows me to amplify my impact, collaborate with like-minded change makers, and address real challenges faced by my community. I do this work to inspire hope, create opportunities, and ensure that every child can dream and achieve beyond their circumstances." "
Millennium Fellowship Project: SMART and PROUD
SMART AND PROUD project is a youth-led local solution to the problem of school
drop-out of children in Huye district and the orphaned /abandoned. Poverty, conflict at home, and many more reasons keep kids down the campus begging rather than at
school. Our initiative aims to mainstream these students back into the education system, help them develop their talent, and give them skills in leadership, personal growth, and digital literacy. By working with local schools to reintegrate these children back into schools. We are seeking to collaborate with government institutions, NGOs, and youth volunteers to re-enrol at least one hundred children back into school.
The long-term vision is to contribute to a sustained decrease in local kid vulnerability and street begging and transform once-marginalized children into confident, educated, and proud young leaders who can contribute positively to their communities.
