" "Passion for justice and empowering youth drives the work I do. Being a Millennium Fellow excites me because it offers a platform to amplify my impact, collaborate with like-minded change makers, and translate ideas into real action. The skills and experiences I gain will strengthen my ability to educate rural communities about their legal rights, promote equality, and contribute meaningfully to the SDGs, particularly Goal 16 on peace, justice, and strong institutions." Millennium Fellowship Project: Access to Justice for All

“Access to Justice for All” is a legal awareness and community education project designed to empower rural youth and community members in Gicumbi District to understand and exercise their basic legal rights. The project focused on providing simple, practical legal knowledge in Kinyarwanda related to reporting crimes, land and family disputes, rights during arrest, and the role of local justice institutions such as Abunzi and sector authorities. Through community dialogues, group discussions, and Q&A sessions, participants developed stronger confidence in seeking justice, resolving conflicts peacefully, and engaging with legal institutions. The project contributes to SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions by promoting legal literacy, accountability, and equal access to justice.
