" I believe stories can inspire change, and communication has the power to connect people across cultures and communities. I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it allows me to grow as a leader while working alongside others who share a passion for building a brighter world. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Local Roots, Global Impact

Local Roots, Global Impact is a documentary project built on the belief that protecting the world begins with one person in one community sharing one positive story at a time. The film demonstrates that although the global conversation about climate change can feel overwhelming, meaningful progress often begins locally through simple and consistent actions. The narrative follows a three part journey through Tampa, Florida, beginning at the University of South Florida with student led sustainability efforts, expanding into the wider community through nonprofits such as Keeping Tampa Bay Beautiful and Homegrown Hillsborough, and finally examining how sustainability is practiced within local businesses including Meacham Urban Farm and environmentally focused shops. Throughout the documentary, the project actively participates in volunteer work, engages with campus organizations, and showcases the creation of a small garden to better understand the systems that support sustainable living. Local Roots, Global Impact connects these stories to Sustainable Development Goal 12 and aims to show that responsible consumption and production are achievable when communities start with their existing resources and take small, intentional steps toward a healthier and more resilient environment.
