" I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow because this project allows me to turn empathy into empowerment, creating real change in my community by making books and education more accessible and giving others the platform to share their own stories. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Books & Butterflies
For our project, we made books and education more accessible and increased literacy rates in lower-income areas, specifically in the Temple Terrace community. We built 3 little free libraries in local parks throughout Tampa. These libraries promote reading and gave easy access to books for elementary and middle schoolers. Furthermore, we are still planning workshops and getting as many volunteers as possible to make these weekly workshops in parks possible.
