" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it offers a unique platform to grow as a leader while creating meaningful impact in my community. I do the work I do because I believe true change begins with service, and every small effort can spark a greater transformation. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Sustainable Water and Energy Project
The Sustainable Water and Energy Project is a student-led initiative designed to improve health, sanitation, and sustainability on campus. It tackles two pressing challenges: unreliable access to clean water and limited awareness of renewable energy solutions.
The project has two main components:
1. Water and Sanitation Improvement – installing a solar-powered water pumping system, maintaining existing water infrastructure, and conducting hygiene workshops to reduce waterborne illnesses and improve handwashing practices.
2. Renewable Energy Promotion – hosting interactive “Go Green” workshops, developing educational materials, and leading outreach campaigns to increase knowledge and adoption of renewable energy within the student body and surrounding community.
Through these activities, the project aims to foster a healthier and greener campus environment. By combining clean water access with renewable energy awareness, the initiative will serve as a model for sustainable development, directly contributing to SDGs 3 (Good Health and Well-being), 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), and 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy).
