UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT ERIC PAUL MEYER, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW FOR THE CLASS OF 2025.

" "I want to do this work because I've learned from my own life that our most difficult experiences can become our greatest tools for building a more empathetic world. I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow to connect with peers who share this belief and to put that principle into practice, turning personal stories into collective progress." "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Beacon: Shifting the Narrative on Suicide Prevention
I know what it feels like to be an outlier, to operate in systems not built for you, and to carry a weight that others can't see. That is precisely why I founded Beacon: Shifting the Narrative on Suicide Prevention.
Suicide and mental health are too often discussed in hushed tones or as cold, impersonal statistics. As a society, we are failing to connect. We offer generic slogans to people facing complex, deeply personal despair. This silence and stigma are dangerous, and they directly impede progress on SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being. My project aims to break that silence, not with more statistics, but with authentic, relatable stories of resilience.
About the Millennium Fellow
I'm someone who believes our deepest connections are built on a foundation of empathy and genuine understanding. My own journey has taught me some profound lessons about the importance of setting boundaries and the strength it takes to find and protect your own voice. I've learned firsthand how our pasts can shape us, but I'm a firm believer that they don't have to define us. Now, in my studies and my relationships, I try to lead with kindness and a curiosity about people's stories, hoping to create spaces where others feel seen, heard, and valued for who they are.
