Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Dzidzo

Project Dzidzo Online Lessons with Panashe Gwitirwa, is a project I began in June 2023 with the aim of making education accessible for disadvantaged secondary school students in my community. I believe that education is a right, not a privilege. In my community, however, I noticed a growing educational gap between students who could afford extra lessons and those who could not. I faced this challenge firsthand, during my years in A-Level . To help bridge this gap, I started offering free online tutoring to Zimbabwean students in secondary school, specifically those doing Advanced Level studies.
My project provides free lessons, marking, and academic resources to students who would otherwise be unable to access extra support. Since 2023, two cohorts have graduated from the program, and I am currently teaching my third group in 2025, with five form 6 students who are sitting for their final exams this October.

About the Millennium Fellow

Panashe Gwitirwa is a 3rd year law student at the University of Zimbabwe. She is a young lady who is interested in student leadership and representation. Panashe prioritizes access to education. She runs online educational platforms where she shares lessons and reading material to students in her community and her campus for free. She does so because she has experienced firsthand how it feels to lack and not be able to afford education. She believes that education is a right, not a privileged.
