" Collaboration and learning fuel sustainable change, and I am thrilled to join the Millennium Fellowship community of passionate young leaders. The program will help me deepen my understanding of effective social impact and connect with peers committed to achieving the UNAI principles and SDGs. As a Millennium Fellow, I look forward to strengthening my leadership skills and working toward educational equity by supporting underprivileged students. I am excited to grow personally and professionally while contributing to meaningful community transformation. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Empowering Village Kids in Bihar

My project is a simple tuition program for village children in Bihar who cannot clear entrance exams of free schools and NGOs. We run four evening learning centres (up from two before the fellowship) where 20–30 children per centre come after their work in the fields. Local coordinators teach basic Hindi, English, math and life skills through games, stories and play, because rote learning never worked with them. We hold monthly fun quizzes and give small prizes (pencils, copies, chocolates) to keep them excited. The biggest fight is retention: many parents still need their children’s hands in the fields more than books. So we started gentle parent meetings, shared success stories and sometimes just listened. Priyanshu brought new donors and in-kind help, Anuj keeps everything running on the ground, and together we are slowly turning “padhai ka kya fayda?” into “kal se bhejenge.” It’s small, dusty, and imperfect, but every child who learns to write their name makes it feel huge.

About the Millennium Fellow

Priyanshu Bhargav is an undergraduate Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science) student at Vidyashilp University. Deeply passionate about social impact, Priyanshu draws inspiration from his volunteer work and internship experiences in underprivileged communities, particularly in Hisar, Haryana. He is currently developing plans for an initiative to provide free educational resources and mentorship to marginalized students. Priyanshu hopes to address educational inequality by building collaborations with NGOs, funders, and coaching institutes, aiming to empower youth and support them in reaching their full potential.
