Through rescuing campus strays, training them into gentle therapy companions, and creating a space where our university’s staff and students receive mental health support while bringing these animals love – this project blends care, collaboration, and purpose. Joining the Millennium Fellowship excites me, as it offers a platform to refine this vision with collective wisdom, expand our impact, and align with UNAI principles to foster healing for both humans and animals through shared kindness. Millennium Fellowship Project: Healing Paws
The goal of the "Healing Paws" is to provide mental health support for college students by adopting and training kittens and puppies and raising them into comfort dogs or trained pets that are more docile.
Animal adoption and training:
Recruit volunteers to help adopt stray cats and dogs and train them to become docile pets suitable for human interaction.
Train these animals to be comforting dogs to help relieve the anxiety and stress of college students and provide emotional comfort.
Mental Health Studio:
Establish a special mental health studio on campus to provide psychological counselling services and tutor students to relieve academic and life pressure.
About the Millennium Fellow
Xinhui Chen is a motivated and academically curious freshman studying Applied Mathematics at Xi'an Jiaotong - Liverpool University. Boasting a strong academic foundation, she excels in math - related learning. With rich experiences in competitions like English contests and business simulations, she’s passionate about exploration and ready to grow through the Millennium Fellowship.
