A Taste of their Story

Project Overview

A Taste of Their Story is an intergenerational initiative that connects young people and older adults through culinary and emotional storytelling. The project engages residents of care homes by collecting personal recipes and the memories behind them, compiling these into a shared recipe book. By using food as a medium for connection, it addresses loneliness and promotes mental well-being. It also envisions intergenerational cooking workshops to foster dialogue, empathy, and knowledge exchange across generations.

Project Impact

During the Millennium Fellowship, A Taste of Their Story achieved critical foundational impact by establishing formal partnerships with elderly residences and building the institutional network required for long-term engagement. The project also launched its social media presence, raising early awareness and community interest. Despite delays due to legal and administrative requirements, these efforts ensured ethical compliance and operational readiness. Overall, the Fellowship period strengthened the project’s sustainability by laying a solid groundwork for future implementation and scalable impact.
