Project Overview
Pace Against Waste is a project that aims to educate and inform. Pace Against Waste advocates for a more sustainable campus through individual habits, specifically to reduce the waste of single use plastic. Efforts are made through creating informative social posts and flyers on how to make sustainable decisions. Since the projects launch, reusable utensil sets have been made available for purchase on campus.
Project Impact
My project became known on campus, which is a big accomplishment. My advocacy efforts have made it so reusable utensils are available to buy at Pace. Within the first two weeks of these sets being available all 60 of them have sold. Through posting on social media, the Pace Against Waste account has 55 followers at this time, and has reached 1,254 accounts since September. I have gotten not only students, but staff on board with the project. It is planned to hold a workshop for students through Pace's Center for Well-being. My credibility for leading Pace Against Waste has increased since I have been quoted by the Associated Press regarding climate advocacy, which I have been spotlighted for at Pace. Overal, through advoacy and educating, I have accomplished gaining a following and more importantly, getting individuals to purchase reusable utensils and engage in surveys.
