This comprehensive research project, conducted by Dushime Butoyi Liesse, President of Break and Rebuild Africa, delves into the multifaceted realm of refugee camps, exploring their historical evolution, significance, and the dualities they present. The study meticulously examines the positive aspects, such as security provision, basic needs fulfillment, and economic contributions to host countries, juxtaposed against the negative implications, including limited opportunities, social conflicts, economic challenges, and environmental concerns. The project concludes with a nuanced perspective advocating for the retention of refugee camps while addressing their shortcomings, emphasizing the importance of humanitarian efforts, international cooperation, and sustainable solutions in managing the complexities of displacement crises.
