Millennium Fellowship Project: Voices For Empowerment
The "Voices for Empowerment " project is dedicated to empowering the deaf community in Masaka region of central Uganda by addressing the barriers to employment and financial independence. This initiative aims to provide vocational training in the fields like graphic design, photography, baking, tailoring, hair dressing among others alongside financial literacy workshops tailored thorough sign language and captioned materials. We have a goal of impacting atleast 300 deaf individuals buy the end of 2025 focusing on economic reliance, self empowerment and social inclusion. Partnerships we have trusted so far are St Marks school for the deaf for a seamless implementation. The project has made progress so far in curriculum designing, networking and strategizing for effective delivery.
About the Millennium Fellow
Mwebaza Sylivia Samalie is a self-driven researcher and aspiring change-maker currently finalizing her Honors in Business Administration. She is a Ugandan, though currently residing in Dhaka, Bangladesh where she is pursuing her studies. Sylivia has a keen interest in sustainable finance, socially responsible investing, and corporate governance with a proven track record in research analysis content creation and executive advisory roles. She has participated in prestigious workshops, fellowships, and research projects and has published articles on related topics. Sylivia is committed to leveraging her knowledge and skills to contribute meaningful insights to sustainability, particularly in the areas of human rights, sustainable finance, and agriculture in developing countries.
