" My dream is to make a difference in the lives of others and to make the world a better place for all of us. Through the Millennium Fellowship, I am eager to take my leadership skills, which I have gained through my volunteer work in law school and as a first-generation college student, to the next level. I am also excited to learn more about the Millennium Goals, such as SDG #10 "Reduce Inequalities" and SDG #13 "Climate Action". I am also looking forward to meeting like-minded students from all over the world who want to make a difference. I would love to exchange ideas and thoughts. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Climate Law Summer School
The Climate Law Summer School is a project, started by students at Bucerius
Law School years ago, targeting German speaking Law Students and trying to
help them find their way in climate law in order to help Germany become more
sustainable in the future. The pilot has started this summer and since autumn of
this year, the University has officially taken on the project and will continue the
work for at least three more years. The students will continue to participate in
building the project, by advising the university, helping out in marketing and giving
feedback for the curriculum. The project aims to support SDG 13.
About the Millennium Fellow
Freya Blumenstein is a bright and ambitious law student at Bucerius Law School, Hamburg. Winning the Federal President’s History Competition with a short documentary just before her high school graduation and interning at the German Parliament as a first-year law student, Freya has many interests and talents. As editor-in-chief of the university’s newspaper, she has fulfilled her lifelong dream of giving young, motivated people a voice.
Driven by a desire to help others, Freya volunteers as a pro bono legal adviser at the university’s legal clinic and was currently awarded for her dedicated work.
She is the founder and director of Bucerius Law School’s First Generation Network, which supports students from non-academic and/or financially challanged backgrounds.
Freya is following her passion for sustainability by planning the Climate Law School, Northern Europe’s very first training program in environmental law. Having learned four languages and currently working on the fifth, Freya is a truly curious person who loves to meet new and like-minded people.
