United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 52,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2024 on 6,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 280+ campuses worldwide (just 5%) were selected to host the 4,000+ Millennium Fellows.

In the social domain, contributing to solving societal problems is paramount to me. While the lab serves me for the former, Millennium Fellowship will provide me with the strong platform to take my social impact efforts to the next level of high significance. Millennium Fellowship Project: The Crimson-Maroon Project

It is testified to by such worldwide health organizations as WHO that the world is desperately crying for voluntary blood donors. The need is even more prominent in the developing countries, like Nigeria where I am. The problem lies in most people not knowing there's a thing called voluntary blood donation, and another problem is that those who are aware are usually reluctant due to some attached
myths; myths like:
"I will get intentionally injected with a virus;" "Blood I donate voluntarily will be sold at the hospital;" "I'm skinny, so I can't donate;" and many such mythical beliefs. The Crimson-Maroon aims to dispel these myths by a widespread public sensitization on the benefits of donating blood voluntarily, the impacts it will have on the societal well-being and the world at large. The project projected to reach a large audience mainly through the online space via social media and blog, with the rationale that more people who use the social media nowadays.

About the Millennium Fellow

Abdulqudus Sulaiman is a young biomedical scientist whose research interest encompasses areas of cancer biology and therapy, mechanism of antibacterial resistance, and viral immunotherapy. His career is being built upon the unwavering yearn he has for solving humanity's social and health issues as much as he can, which is what motivates him to pursue a career in research. Outside scientific environment, Abdulqudus finds solace in volunteering; he currently volunteers as a regular blood donor, community servant, and writer for non-profit organizations among others. In his volunteering experience, Abdulqudus has learnt to be a strong teamworker, a distinction that has helped him become a leader rather than commander. Thus, among other leadership positions, he currently serves as the national president of a student association and a campus director of the Millennium Fellowship, College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin, Nigeria.
