" My passion for technology and community health drives the work I do. Through the Millennium Fellowship, I hope to strengthen my leadership and advocacy skills to scale Safe Birth Sierra Leone and make maternal healthcare more accessible. This opportunity will align my impact with the UN SDGs and empower me to serve my community and beyond.” "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Safe Birth Sierra Leone
Safe Birth Sierra Leone is a community-driven maternal health initiative focused on improving access to safe, respectful, and informed childbirth for women in rural communities—starting with my home village, Kalangba. Our project offers prenatal education, basic birth preparedness training, and mobile-based pregnancy tracking support for expectant mothers, local midwives, and community health workers.
Our goal is simple: no woman should die while giving life. We aim to build a model that strengthens community maternal care systems, reduces preventable deaths, and empowers women with the knowledge and support needed for safe pregnancy and childbirth.
