" I believe that all children should get an opportunity to dream and succeed, irrespective of their origin. The Millennium Fellowship can be an avenue to make a greater impact, working with other change-makers with the same passion and co-develop sustainable solutions to the street child issue in Africa. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Afri-Children Foundation (ACF)

Afri-Children foundation (ACF) is a community based organization that helps street children in Kigali by providing them with education, emotional support and long term counseling. The project aims at assisting children below the age of 18 years to leave the streets and adopt secure and organized learning opportunities.
We begin by doing outreach and registration and then move on to the provision of scholarships and school materials and tutoring. We also match a child with mentors, provide mental health assistance and conduct campaigns on community education so that the families and communities also play a role in the development of the child.
The foundation also collaborates with the local schools, NGOs, government agencies and community leaders to find needy children, resource mobilization and development of a support system that ensures every child attends school. Although the foundation is still unregistered, it is also running under the mission of interrupting the poverty cycle by investing in the marginalized young people, providing them with academic, social, and emotional resources to have a brighter future.
