" I am excited for the Millennium Fellowship because it’s a space for me to grow as a leader, connect with other change makers, and transform vision into lasting impact. I do this work to raise awareness, equip people with knowledge, and help rewrite the future of health for thousands, to prove that access to information and support can change lives and improve well-being. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: GlucoVive

GlucoVive is a diabetes-focused initiative designed to educate, support, and empower individuals living with diabetes, as well as their families and friends. In Nigeria, where 1 in 14 adults has diabetes and 62% of those diagnosed struggle with poor glycaemic control, there's a critical need for awareness and support. GlucoVive addresses this by promoting education on diabetes prevention, early symptom recognition, risk factors, management and complication recognition. GlucoVive emphasizes the importance of good nutrition, regular exercise, and adherence to medical treatments for proper management of diabetes. We also aim to equip caregivers—family and friends—with the knowledge to emotionally and practically support their loved ones with diabetes, ensuring they lead fulfilling lives without limitations. Recognizing the financial burden of diabetes care in Nigeria, GlucoVive seeks to provide financial assistance through outreaches, partnerships with organizations offering aids and advocating for improved insurance coverage. Additionally, we aim to provide virtual consultations with medical professionals, mental health support, community engagement, and personalized reminders for medication and routine tests. By alleviating some of the daily challenges faced by people with diabetes, GlucoVive strives to create a support system that promotes healthier, happier lives for diabetics.
