" Md. Shofikul Islam is excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it offers a global platform to amplify his mission of using innovation and storytelling to address climate challenges in Bangladesh. He believes that empowering communities with knowledge and creative solutions is essential to building a sustainable and resilient future. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Climate First
Climate First is our climate education project to combat climate change denial and raise awareness about climate change across different regions and social backgrounds. In our community, certain groups of people are unaware of or directly dismiss the scientific consensus on human-caused climate change. This form of dismissal leads to less reliance on climate policies and less involvement with eco-friendly initiatives. Hence Climate First aims to create and curate a library of video confessions and interviews from individuals and communities across different parts of our region detailing their struggle with the ongoing environmental crisis. With this library, we want to share the real-life experiences of these communities as concrete evidence for man-made climate change and tackle misinformation or denial accordingly. Afterward, we shall follow through with our target audience about our work via social awareness campaigns and live sessions (both online and offline).
