" Being a Millennium Fellow is a chance to turn conviction into action, into building something meaningful and leaving a measurable mark on my community. Being part of this global network is an honor and a reason to challenge myself into bringing positive impact with the help of the leaders of the world. I'm excited to sharpen my skills with such inspiring minds, as a reminder that curiosity fuels progress and shared leadership transforms lives. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Journey
Journey is an app currently under development created for people moving in difficult cities like my own. The public transportation in my city Tijuana is an unconnected mess, official stops and schedules don't exist, the infrastructure is old and the drivers are disrespectful. Journey offers a solution by improving safety for passengers by helping them understand routes, locate unofficial stops, and be able to view real-time updates on active vehicles in a map. Security is increased by showing the drivers’ profiles and authenticating them, with reviews written by other passengers. It also offers route suggestions based on the safety of the areas the ride passes through, giving our users the option to choose safer paths. Finally, it has a SOS button to alert your contacts and authorities in an emergency. There is also a side project we want to merge with Journey. A tool that serves as a carpool manager for students of CETYS Universidad. Students will be able to connect with other registered parents and students that live nearby and have similar class schedules to commute together to the University. Drivers and their passengers will be able to decide on the right amount of money the passenger should pay.
