Millennium Fellowship Project: Catalyst: The Community Learning Revolution
Our project is about unlocking the potential in communities that has yet to be tapped. Picture a community where the carpentry-skilled uncle, the great cook aunty, or the computer whiz kid never get the opportunity to pass on their expertise. We're turning this around by building a platform where the community learns from itself. We'll identify young adults with primary education, boost their confidence, and encourage them to initiate small learning groups. Some will be instructing math, others cultural cooking, and others will be tutoring children. Educated members will play the role of managers to facilitate a smooth run. We'll mentor and train them and assist them in recording their knowledge in a digital notebook. As college students, we’re just the catalysts, empowering communities to realize their potential. We’ll also help secure small funding through local businesses or donations. Once the model succeeds, we’ll encourage other students to replicate it in different communities. The goal? To show people they already have the skills to teach, learn, and grow together. It’s about transforming local knowledge into a powerful tool for community development.
