Millennium Fellowship Project: Social Justice & Anti-Drug Empowerment Initiative
A community-driven initiative aimed at reducing youth drug abuse in Kisasi Ward by promoting social justice, building youth leadership, offering peer support, and establishing skills development hubs for long-term empowerment. Key achievements include:
1. Establishment of the Kisasi Anti-Drug Youth Council (KADYC)
Goal: Form a 15-member youth-led advocacy council.
Accomplishment: Successfully formed the council with full representation from different villages and included two reformed drug users.
2. Training of Peer Mentors
Goal: Train 20 peer mentors to support youth struggling with addiction.
Accomplishment: Trained 18 mentors in trauma-informed care, conflict de-escalation, and basic counseling.
3. Awareness & Community Sensitization Campaigns
Goal: Conduct ward-wide awareness activities and anti-stigma education.
Accomplishment: Reached over 600 youth through school visits, church sessions, village barazas, and the “Our Hope, Our Kisasiwan” campaign.
4. Progress on Youth Skills Development Hubs
Goal: Establish two skills development hubs for ICT, welding, and tailoring.
Accomplishment: Successfully secured buildings and mobilized pro-bono instructors. Renovations began, and equipment lists were finalized.
About the Millennium Fellow
Javix moses is a young vibrant young leader, a human resource management practitioner, in the great co-operative University of Kenya.
Javix moses, was born in kitui,kenya. Moses, having been grown in country where community action, social justice, drug abuse and substance abuse are amongst the threats to many young population in kenya, moses has actively fought for social justice , community action, drug abuse and substance abuse through creating awareness and peer education. He has also formed a group of 5 people to create awareness about community action ,social justice , drug abuse and substance abuse among the youth.
I believe in Javix moses leadership and transformative leadership skills.
