" Hope is all it takes to initiate action against a problem that seems unsolvable. With the guidance from Millennium Fellowship, I plan to work towards creating a safe and healthy environment for the people so that face masks are no longer a necessity for them and the environment does not cost them their health. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Shuchi

Project Shuchi is an attempt to create a better environment for people of Delhi. Housing over 33 million people, Delhi is one of the most polluted cities in the world. The best way to combat this challenge is to start small- by ensuring cleanliness in our neighbourhoods. I propose that the city adopts the Indore model and focus on educating the citizens about proper waste management and disposal. Awareness among people, especially young children, is the most effective way to bring about a change. I suggest organising awareness camps in local parks to interact with the people and help them understand the importance of a clean environment and discuss the ways in which this can be achieved. Collaborating with popular media personalities and columnists is another way to reach more people. Collaboration with the city administration or various NGOs to place wet and dry waste bins every 500 meters all over the city would also help with controlling pollution, and will be a huge help to people, especially those who live in the older parts of the city that are more congested. Project Shuchi is an attempt to reduce the land pollution in Delhi with the help of the people.
