" Sharing ideas, learning through effective communication, and mastering exemplary leadership drive my ambitions. The Millennium Fellowship offers a unique opportunity to collaboratively enhance these skills. The insights and abilities I gain will make my impact on schools, the environment, and my community more tangible and aligned with the UNAI principles and SDGs. I am excited to broaden my perspective by envisioning new ways of learning and discovering solutions to pressing community challenges. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Carol's Prep
Carol’s Prep addresses the urgent challenge faced by high-achieving, low-income internally displaced students (IDPs) in Cameroon, who often struggle with limited access to resources and supportive learning environments. Founded in 2020, the initiative builds inclusive classroom communities through peer-to-peer collaboration, mentorship, and accessible learning hubs. By embedding academic assistance directly into daily classroom life and training upperclassmen as mentors, Carol’s Prep strengthens student confidence, fosters resilience, and reduces isolation among displaced youth. Our goals are to establish learning centers, provide essential educational materials, and cultivate networks of peer mentors who empower others to succeed. The impact is transformative: improved academic performance, stronger social bonds, and scalable best practices that reduce inequality. Ultimately, Carol’s Prep equips displaced students not only to thrive academically but also to lead, breaking cycles of disadvantage and creating pathways to long-term success.
