United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 60,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2025 on 7,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 290+ campuses worldwide (less than 5%) were selected to host the 4,500+ Millennium Fellows.

Millennium Fellowship Project: The Safe Space

The Safe Space is a student-led mental health initiative designed to foster emotional well-being, peer support, and personal growth among university students. Through a WhatsApp community, anonymous sharing, monthly hangouts, and creative outreach like podcasts and school visits, the project creates a judgment-free zone where students feel heard, supported, and empowered. It aims to normalize mental health conversations and build resilience through shared experiences, education, and community engagement.
Create and moderate a WhatsApp support group with at least 100 active members
Measurable Goals (August–December 2025):
Share anonymous feedback links twice weekly and post responses to foster empathy and dialogue
Host 2 hangouts featuring self-development readings, games, and open conversations
Launch a student-led podcast with at least 3 episodes featuring guests from the community
Organize 1 outreach visit to a secondary school to promote mental health awareness
Collaborate with at least 2 other student organizations to expand reach and impact
Distribute a short mental health resource guide to students and schools.

About the Millennium Fellow

Alex Okoh is a medical student and public health advocate from Benue State Nigeria. He is passionate about taking action to making his community better, improving the quality of life by educating people with credible information that will help them take action. Alex believes in the phrase "I am, because we are" and so works to inspire people and let them know that better is possible. At school and in the online space, He has taken action, advocating and campaigning for better healthcare and habits. He has been raising awareness on public health issues in his community. His vision is to be a catalyst for change, doing his part to contribute to the UN's SDGs
