UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT ASHLEY LEATCH, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW FOR THE CLASS OF 2025.
Griffith University | Brisbane, Australia | Advancing SDG 4 & UNAI 3

" "The Millennium Fellowship will give me a platform through which to explore how an arts education can translate into positive change in the world, marrying the two things I care most about: creative writing and social impact. I am excited to prove that the arts have important social value, as well as just aesthetic value." "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Alphabet Soup Storytelling Workshops
This project aims to help primary school students connect with themselves and others by teaching them how to craft compelling stories. This initial round of the program involved two storytelling workshops delivered to year 6 students in rural Australia where they learnt how to tell stories about themselves and stories for others using various formats. I then transformed their work into booklets and children's books, which the students read to their younger peers in prep.
About the Millennium Fellow
Ashley Leatch is an aspiring fiction author enthusiastic about creating impact through language, a tool made even more powerful in a technology-saturated world. An advocate for animal rights, sustainability, and mental health, Ashley is committed to crafting stories that inspire gratitude and awe for the natural world, human connection, and a slower pace of life in the Global North. She is a strong believer that everybody has a voice, and as well as writing her own creative pieces, hopes to teach others how to articulate themselves through storytelling, allowing them to share their perspectives and build a society founded upon empathy.
