" I believe knowledge should spark both innovation and inclusion—engineering equips me to design sustainable solutions, while teaching allows me to share that spark with others. Through the Millennium Fellowship, I am eager to connect with like-minded change makers and transform ideas into tangible impact aligned with the UN SDGs. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: 1Change 4All

1Change 4All is an independent project led by HCT students. The initiative aligns with SDG 2: Zero Hunger, SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by focusing on hydroponics, recycling, and urban gardening. The project aims to promote sustainable agricultural practices, raise environmental awareness, and inspire responsible urban living. During the Millennium Fellowship period (August–December 2025), 1Change 4All will run a community campaign engaging HCT students, faculty, and the wider community. The campaign will include awareness workshops, hands-on hydroponic demonstrations, and recycling drives, to reach at least 200 participants and foster long-term commitment to sustainability.

About the Millennium Fellow

Michael Gashaw, a motivated student from Ethiopia now studying at the Higher College of Technology in the UAE, carries with him equal parts curiosity and conviction.
A builder: Growing up in a family of engineers, Michael was always drawn to the hidden intricacies behind every working machine. That fascination shaped his path toward electrical-engineering, where he now works to “wire the world” into a better living environment. His passion for progress extends into research on sustainable energy.
A teacher believes in growth through exchanging with his peers; one of his goals has been to reduce the illiteracy rate in his country by mentoring the youth.
