" "My passion for reducing poverty comes from the small, everyday moments—sharing food, offering kindness, and listening to the stories of those in need. I've seen how even the simplest acts can bring about hope and dignity. The Millennium Fellowship will help me turn these personal efforts into sustainable, community-driven change. I'm excited to learn, grow, and work alongside others to build a future where fewer people struggle and more people have the chance to thrive." "

Millennium Fellowship Project: The Promise Project

Since these are just ideas I've got in mind, I'm starting off realistically. In my project, I have three initiatives that cover three specific areas that could contribute to the betterment of the poor: food, aid, and awareness. Starting with the food: I had in mind a Food Truck. Volunteers could set off in vans or cars with meals (actual good food, unlike the leftovers that the homeless are generally offered) and offer them to the poor. Aid: I've only ever seen little kids playing with dirt, rarely a toy in hand, with injuries on their bodies that aren't tended to. Offering aid-kits that comprise general necessities like sanitary products, little booklets, and maybe a toy or two would fill the kids with the childhood spark they dream of. Awareness: Although there exists enough awareness about those in need, there's not much action that the general public takes. My idea is to organise a storytelling-driven campaign encouraging people to act on promises they made to help others. We could encourage people to share their promises + take real steps (volunteer, donate, advocate). Could be online and local.
