" "I believe that compassion backed by action can reshape communities. Through the Millennium Fellowship, I am excited to amplify my work with stray animals - building stronger networks, enhancing my leadership, and driving meaningful change for animal welfare. This work matters to me because every life — no matter how small — deserves care, dignity, and a chance to thrive." "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Pother Pran

I joined Pother Pran, a campus-based animal welfare organization a year after I started university. Stray animals are everywhere, struggling to survive without food, shelter, and proper medical care. Getting beaten, poisoned, or chased away is just another day on the road. At Pother Pran, we provide them with food and medical care with the limited funds we receive and try to rehabilitate the severely injured ones. It appalls me every day to know that nearly 70% of stray animals witness cruelty at the hands of men and only a fraction of them receive proper treatment. Through Pother Pran, I have seen how little care can bring them back to life. I want to dedicate my academic credentials, skills, and network to assisting the helpless to get access to proper care on the road and possible rehabilitation. My project aims to reduce cruelty and promote responsible pet care. In this regard, I plan to research animal cruelty and welfare, hoping to lead the findings into meaningful action.
