United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 60,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2025 on 7,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 290+ campuses worldwide (less than 5%) were selected to host the 4,500+ Millennium Fellows.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project ReJuvenate

Jahangirnagar University is home to diverse species of plants and welcomes migrating birds every year. Due to a lack of a proper disposal system, the campus has become a waste dumping site. The water bodies have been affected the most, posing a threat to the diverse wildlife of this campus. Project reJUvenate highlights the word JU or Jahangirnagar University. Initially, we aim to start with a pilot project focusing on faculty of social science. We aim to set up a full-fledged waste disposal system around campus and return JU to its past glory. Short-Term Goals: Pilot Program: Implement segregated waste bins. Work with the authority to set up proper plastic waste disposal Raise awareness about waste segregation and proper disposal while collaborating with the nature clubs on campus. Present a proposal plan to the authorities to make the Biogas plant functional again while collaborating with Grameen Shakti (NGO that setup the plant) and deducing the reasons behind its initial closure. Long-Term Goals: Expand the waste management and disposal initiative around campus and substantially reduce waste dumping around campus. Set up a sustainable biodegradable waste disposal system through the Provide additional employment for the poor in the Biogas plant.

About the Millennium Fellow

Maisha Binte Momin is pursuing a degree in Business Administration (Honors) at the Institute of Business Administration, Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. But her true passion lies in building a society where young people are heard, women walk without fear, and mental health is no longer whispered about but championed. From creating safe spaces where students can share their stories to making mental health support accessible, Maisha believes in the power of small, purposeful steps to spark meaningful impact. Her journey is threaded with action. She has immersed herself in youth-led organizations, led initiatives that resonate beyond the campus, and honed her skills in communication, leadership, and problem-solving, earning recognition on national stages along the way. For Maisha, every idea, every project, every story told is a brushstroke in a larger canvas of social transformation. As she looks toward higher studies in development and innovation, she’s committed to leaving a mark, one small step at a time.
