Millennium Fellowship Project: SoftTech Initiative

The SoftTech Initiative is a youth empowerment project led by Millennium Fellows Alceste Ujeneza Nyayiha and Arnauld Hirwa Imena that addresses the digital and professional skills gap among underprivileged and refugee students. Many of these students lack access to technology, training, and guidance, leaving them unprepared for higher education or the workforce. The initiative aims to equip students with essential digital literacy skills (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office), as well as critical thinking, ethical decision-making, professional communication, and business mathematics. By hosting interactive workshops and creating digital learning clubs, the project fosters collaboration, mentorship, and hands-on learning. Through these efforts, SoftTech Initiative seeks to bridge educational inequalities, increase students’ confidence and employability, and empower them to pursue academic and career opportunities, ultimately creating lasting social impact by enabling youth to contribute positively to their communities.
