APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University | Thiruvananthapuram, India | Advancing SDG 11, SDG 3 & UNAI 9

" I believe technology can be used to improve the world as long as it is complemented with good leadership, collaboration, and vision for the world. I am excited about the Millennium Fellowship because it will give me a platform to connect with other change makers who have the same vision as I do, learn from different experiences, and gain the mentorship and training necessary to turn ideas into action. This experience is about refining my vision, working with people who are committed to making a difference, and coming up with solutions that can scale over time to address real-world problems. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Overflow Ends With Us
Our project, "Overflow Ends with Us", aims to improve waste management in public spaces by introducing smart bins with sensors that detect when they are full and automatically notify the authorities for timely clearance. In addition, citizens will have the option to report issues such as overflowing bins, malfunctioning lids, or other concerns through a simple feedback system. To make waste disposal more convenient, the project will also include a feature that helps people locate the nearest available dustbin. Together, these measures will ensure cleaner surroundings, reduce overflow, and create a healthier community environment.
