Millennium Fellowship Project: The WellSpring:MZ
The WellSpring: MZ’ is a compelling project that
is designed in order to bridge medical students in Africa. It is structured to
provide all groups with a deeper understanding
of their different but similar cultures, their health
challenges, opportunities and so much more. It
focuses on promoting partnership, encouraging
networking, nurturing research, advancing
healthcare, facilitating medical education, all the
while, learning about each others elements of
culture. In order to achieve this, ‘The
WellSpring:MZ’ works to create a space for joint
workshops, seminars, community health projects,
and overall dialogue across borders. Its main
goal is to create an environment that celebrates
our diversity while empowering communities and
individuals to thrive.
About the Millennium Fellow
Anotidaishe Leane Kandwe is a second year medical student with a burning enthusiasm for making an impact in the communities around her. As a Zimbabwean born, Mozambican raised young lady, who is currently studying in Malawi, she has had the opportunity to see, reflect and indulge in different aspects of issues affecting individuals within these communities and along with this, see the beauty and union within the Bantu culture despite the challenges. As someone who has always been passionate about medicine, sexual health and women's rights, Anotida has always looked for ways to maximize her impact, no matter how small it may be, for the people around her. From being the current National Officer of the Standing Committee of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights including HIV and AIDS at her school, to volunteering as an English teacher at her local orphanage, her drive pushes her to spaces unimaginable but more so, the results empower her to keep going. Anotida aims to continue pushing the limits and boundaries, and aid her communities in making change, especially within the healthcare field.
