" My passion for peacebuilding, dialogue, and social justice drives my academic journey and volunteer work. The Millennium Fellowship will provide a platform to refine my advocacy skills, collaborate with like-minded change makers, and design impactful community projects. By aligning my initiatives with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, I aim to create tangible, lasting change and inspire others to become peacebuilders. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Ecopeace Project

EcoPeace Project is an independent initiative led by Millennium Fellow Animashaun Saidat. The project addresses the link between environmental degradation and conflict, focusing on how issues such as resource scarcity, climate change, deforestation, and water shortages can intensify social, economic, and political tensions. EcoPeace aims to engage affected communities, policymakers, and youth in constructive dialogue to explore sustainable solutions that both protect the environment and promote peace. By fostering cooperation, the project seeks to transform environmental challenges into opportunities for unity and shared prosperity. During the Millennium Fellowship period (August–December 2025), EcoPeace will host a minimum of three community engagement events, including workshops on sustainable resource management, collaborative tree-planting drives, and roundtable discussions on environmental peacebuilding. We aim to reach at least 2,000 participants, equipping them with knowledge and practical strategies to mitigate environmental conflicts and strengthen community resilience.
