" I believe protecting the earth is a responsibility we all share. Our planet is not only my home, but everyone’s home, and it deserves to be cared for with respect. I do this work to help build a healthier, more sustainable future where people and the environment can thrive together, and the Millennium Fellowship will allow me to grow as a leader and make this greater impact. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Greener Horizons: Building a Culture of Sustainability
When I started my Millennium Fellowship project, I wanted to take a simple idea, caring for our environment, and bring it closer to home. My project focuses on building a culture of sustainability within the Northeastern and Boston community. I noticed how much single-use waste piles up in daily life, from coffee cups to takeout containers, and wanted to hopefully inspire small but lasting changes in the way we think about consumption and waste.
Through a series of community cleanups, sustainable living workshops, and social media outreach, my goal was to make environmental responsibility more approachable and hands-on. The project centers on three ideas: education, participation, and connection. Education meant helping others understand how everyday actions affect local ecosystems. Participation came through trash cleanups and volunteer events. Connection happened when people realized their impact doesn’t end with picking up litter, it extends into every choice they make afterward.
