" I am excited to embed myself in a community of motivated problem-solvers where we can share ideas and solutions. Collaboration is key to my creative process, and the Millennium Fellowship has already created a space where students can work together to change the world. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: TTRPGs for Teachers
I am creating a tabletop role-playing game that synthesizes the best elements from popular titles like Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, Lancer, and more, while blending those gameplay concepts with educational guidelines and goals. TTRPGs are an overlooked pedagogical tool, with proven benefits in teaching English and other languages, improving emotional wellbeing, building interpersonal communication skills, deep problem solving, creative thinking and more. DMs have to learn to think on their feet and improvise in a live environment, while players have to engage with a rich world comprised of spoken words and written rules. It will be a game designed to be easy to learn and accessible to both elementary school students and veteran gamers. It will offer rich and rewarding gameplay for casual players, and opportunities for intercultural engagement as the players create unique characters and engage with a world created collaboratively together with the Dungeon Master. This synthesized TTRPG will thus act as a learning tool to keep students engaged, a bridge for intercultural dialogue and learning, and as a free, open-source update to the genre of games inspired by titles like Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder.
