" I was encouraged to join or rather sign up for the fellowship by my sister because she has done it before and it impacted her into many ways. So I'm looking forward to gaining the skills and experience that will come from the community of the MCN. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: NANI (Noor Ala Noor Initiative)

This project focused primarily on assisting families or key family members to make better informed decisions about nutrition and how it affects their health, while staying within their financial capabilities. The target audience was families or individuals who influence household decision making, with an initial goal to educate and support 5 to 10 families on understanding nutrition and making healthier choices within their means. During the project period, I conducted market surveys with my teammate and carried out community surveys among the targeted audience. While I aimed to achieve some level of implementation, I was mainly able to complete the research and planning goals. The market and community surveys worked well, but securing financial funding earlier than planned was a challenge, which slowed the project’s implementation progress.

About the Millennium Fellow

My name is Fauziyah Muhammad Yahaya and I'm a public health student studying at Nile university of Nigeria. I was born in Nigeria and reside there too. For as long as I can remember I have always had the passion to help out the less privileged, I would constantly dream and envision how I can possible help out and make life better for that percentage of the population that needs upliftment. I discovered public health as a course and I realized that through it I can relate to the community and not just a particular person health wise and I can devise an intervention that can work for not just one but a whole community at large. I wish and I'm slowly but steadily getting and growing to be an advocate for good health and well being for all as I strongly believe I can make a difference and I will definitely make a difference in my society sooner or later. I'm slowly discovering and researching on other Sustainable development goals I would love to indulge in to make an impact.
