" Equality in education is the foundation of a just society, and my passion for this cause drives my work every day. Being part of the Millennium Fellowship will allow me to refine my leadership, connect with like-minded change makers and design impactful initiatives that address cultural and financial barriers to women’s education. The skills and networks I gain will help me transform my vision into sustainable action, ensuring that education becomes a right enjoyed equally by women and men. I am excited to contribute to the UNAI principles and SDGs by empowering communities through learning. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: She Learns, She Leads

My project, "She Learns, She Leads” is an educational empowerment initiative dedicated to advancing women’s access to education and leadership opportunities. The project seeks to confront and overcome the social, cultural and financial barriers that limit girls’ educational attainment, such as early marriage, restrictive traditions and inadequate learning facilities.
Through awareness campaigns, mentorship sessions and collaborations with local institutions, the project aims to create an environment where every girl can pursue her right to education with dignity and confidence. By equipping young women with knowledge and leadership skills, “She Learns, She Leads” envisions building a generation of empowered women who not only transform their own lives but also contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities and society at large.

About the Millennium Fellow

Abdul Majeed Khan is a passionate student of English Linguistics and Literature at the National University of Modern Languages, Islamabad, Pakistan. Born in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he was raised in a family that believed women’s education is as vital as men’s. This early lesson inspired his commitment to advocating for equal educational opportunities for women, especially in communities where cultural norms, financial barriers, and societal pressures restrict access. Abdul has engaged in awareness efforts and community initiatives to challenge these barriers. He aspires to establish an organization that empowers women through education and creates lasting social change.
