National University of Sciences & Technology | Islamabad, Pakistan | Advancing SDG 4, SDG 10 & UNAI 3

" I aim to raise awareness and make a real impact in the lives of my community members. The Millennium Fellowship will allow me to develop the necessary leadership and teamwork skills. I hope to utilize the opportunities of collaborating with my cohort members and building a network to accelerate impactful, ethical and community driven health solutions. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Wellness Connect
In light of the ever important SDGs 3 and 4 we present the Wellness Connect project. Wellness connect aims to promote healthier futures (physically and mentally) in Pakistan's schools and communities through awareness campaigns on various health related topics such as hygiene, nutrition, preventive care, and mental health.
By combining stigma reduction and advocacy on mental health policies with educational approach the three-phase initiative will foster sustainable well-being and community engagement. Our objectives include :
- Awareness sessions and campaigns promoting healthy lifestyle practices and UNAI Principles 2, 3, and 8.
- Raising mental health awareness as mental health is often dismissed and overlooked in Pakistan specifically in lower to middle class citizens. We aim to combat this by focusing on stigma reduction, having an open dialogue with change makers in this field and highlight challenges faced, and advocate for strategies for overall well-being
- We hope to advocate for policy dialogue and licensing discussions on mental health as well and possibly partner with local NGOs or influencers to further validate and accelerate the reach of our goals.
