" I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it will help me enhance my leadership skills while bringing DigitalUraan to life. I do this work because I've seen talented students held back by lack of guidance, and I want to bridge that gap with mentorship and accessible digital education. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Digital Uraan

Digital Uraan is a free, cohort-based digital skills studio designed to help students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds transition into entry-level freelancing. The project provides scaffolded micro-lessons, hands-on projects, peer and mentor feedback, portfolio publishing support, and access to a micro-task marketplace. Built entirely using free, widely available tools, Digital Uraan lowers barriers to digital work by enabling participants to build verified portfolios and secure their first paid micro-tasks.

About the Millennium Fellow

Zahra Abbas is a second-year Data Science student at NUST, Pakistan, driven by a strong commitment to learning and growth. She has turned her own hunger for education into a mission to uplift others, serving as a mentor to guide juniors through academic challenges and career decisions. Having grown up in the city while staying connected to her village roots, Zahra has witnessed firsthand the barriers to digital literacy and mentorship. Through the Millennium Fellowship, she aims to create mentor-supported, beginner-friendly digital classrooms, bridging the gap between talent and opportunity—turning curiosity into skills and skills into independence, empowering students to shape their own futures.
