" “I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it’s a platform to grow, serve, and share solutions that matter. I do the work I do because I believe design—whether in spaces or visuals—can change lives, and I want mine to speak hope, excellence, and purpose. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: RAP Architecture (Raising People in Architecture)
Project Description: RAP Architecture (Raising People in Architecture)
RAP Architecture is a student-led initiative designed to make architectural learning more accessible, practical, and community-driven. The project focuses on equipping architecture students with essential design skills, clarity, and confidence through collaborative learning experiences. RAP Architecture originated from an earlier concept, RAW Architecture (Raising Women in Architecture), which focused on empowering young women. However, after observing that the wider challenge was a lack of interest, exposure, and skill development across all students, the initiative evolved into a more inclusive platform — Raising People in Architecture.
RAP Architecture aims to bridge the skill gap among architecture students by providing free, flexible, and impactful learning sessions outside the formal academic structure. Through design workshops, case study breakdowns, virtual bootcamps, and community discussions, the initiative helps students understand core architectural concepts in ways that are simple, relatable, and approachable.
In 2025, RAP Architecture hosted its first 2-day virtual bootcamp, attracting over 30 students across multiple levels. The sessions focused on design thinking, presentation strategies, and case study analysis. The training was delivered across Telegram and WhatsApp, making participation accessible for students with limited resources. Despite facing personal challenges during the bootcamp, the project lead remained committed, ensuring the successful completion of the program.
The initiative aligns with SDG 4 (Quality Education) by offering inclusive, equitable learning opportunities, and indirectly supports SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities & Communities) through its long-term impact on architectural practice and representation.
RAP Architecture continues to grow as a community that encourages curiosity, builds confidence, and promotes peer-to-peer knowledge sharing. The project’s vision is to nurture a generation of architecture students who are bold, skilled, and committed to improving the built environment.
