" My work is driven by a belief that art and architecture can be powerful tools for social change. Through creative expression, I aim to challenge injustice, amplify women’s voices, and reimagine spaces that nurture identity and community. The Millennium Fellowship will equip me with the skills, network, and platform to expand this impact, aligning my projects with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and fostering transformative dialogue through design and art. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Nyumbani ni wapi? Stories for safe spaces
Nyumbani Ni Wapi? is a social impact project that uses comics as tools for advocacy and education on femicide and gender-based violence (GBV) in Kenya. Rooted in the belief that art can provoke empathy and cultural transformation, it merges storytelling and social justice to amplify survivor voices and challenge harmful gender norms.
Femicide in Kenya has reached alarming levels, with advocacy groups documenting hundreds of cases, many involving intimate partners. Beyond statistics lie stories—of love turned to loss, of communities silenced by stigma, and of justice denied. Nyumbani Ni Wapi? responds through creativity, turning visual storytelling into a tool of remembrance, resistance, and reform.
