" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because this fellowship is going to help me apply my skills much more efficiently, such as adaptability, problem-solving, and critical thinking. I really think this international exposure, mentorship, and coursework will really help me find out my real potential of helping others and bringing change in society. I love to do what i do because seeing people happy, and independent to earn bread n butter makes me so calm and satisfied. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Thrive Together

Many people in our surroundings and slum areas have the skills like stitching, knitting, and crafting, but they don't know how to turn their skills into the income. At the same time, some people are financially unstable, they want to earn to meet the basic necessities of the life, but they don't have any skills. Our project aims to empower the both people in underprivileged areas. We will divide people into two groups. For those who have skills but don't know how to sell them, we will teach them how to showcase and sell their skills through social media. And we will connect them with people in the market who need their skills. On the other hand, we will arrange to teach those who have no skills at all, skills like kitchen gardening and handicrafts, so that they can start earning. This will not only provide them with a source of income, but the plants planted for kitchen gardening will also help to some extent in controlling the negative effects of climate change. This will help make them financially independent as well as promote a green and sustainable environment.

About the Millennium Fellow

Areesha Noor is a student of business administration and management and she has always been into extracurricular activities and volunteer work. Step by step she got into entrepreneurship club, business management society. Areesha holds a very strong value and tries to follow it. It's basically Kizen meaning continuous improvement this is the one thing she believes in. Before applying to Millennium she was part of Amal fellowship, where she ran a project named Khilat to make sustainability change and social impact by taking pre loved clothes and distributing it among underprivileged communities. So this project made her realize how even a normal person like her can contribute and give back to society by just putting little effort. This all made her understand how important it is to take accountability.
