UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT JUNYI LI, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW FOR THE CLASS OF 2025.
University College London | London, United Kingdom | Advancing SDG 16, SDG 11 & UNAI 5

" Clarity, inclusion, and evidence drive my civic-science work. Being part of the Millennium Fellowship will deepen these skills through collaboration with peers who share this purpose. The skills I gain will help me translate classroom knowledge into adaptable, interactive pieces that align with UNAI Global Citizenship and SDG goals. I'm excited to co-create, test, and share tools that help young people navigate science and policy with confidence. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: PolicyMatch: Translating Policies into Action
PolicyMatch is a tool designed to help students understand and act on key public and university policies that affect their everyday lives. Many students struggle to recover rental deposits, apply for social tariffs, access hardship funds, or navigate academic procedures because the information is scattered, written in technical language, or unclear. PolicyMatch reduces this barrier by turning complex policies into simple, step-by-step guidance.
Users describe their situation, and the tool identifies the relevant policy and provides a short explanation, the steps they need to follow, expected timelines, required documents, and a ready-to-send email or letter template. The aim is to help students move from confusion to confident action in under 90 seconds.
The project supports SDG 16.10 by improving access to information and SDG 16.6 by encouraging clearer, more accountable communication from institutions. PolicyMatch shows how small clarity-focused interventions can make policy navigation easier and reduce stress for students.
About the Millennium Fellow
Junyi Li is an undergraduate at University College London studying Sociology and the Politics of Science. Raised across Asia and Europe, he co-organized school service projects and volunteered in the Philippines and Thailand. While modeling disease spread in the Philippines with the University of Chicago’s International Policy Action Lab, he saw government advisories, local capacity, and rumor bursts collide. Determined to close the science-policy misinformation gap, Junyi manages a 50,000-strong TikTok and is expanding into policy literacy while building an open-source interactive app. He hopes to continue this work and contribute to Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.
